I'll have to clean all that up and think about which permissions users actually need. I haven't needed to worry about user permissions. I think the problem is that I primarily use the NAS with a secondary admin account. When I check some individually, some have admin, some have docker. It shows all users as users with GID 100, but none with admin of 101. I used vi /etc/passwd which seems to have partially worked. I tried recreating /books and still /books has permissions of 0 according to the container logs despite what DSM shows. I even get the same error when I give everyone R/W access. books is set to read/write for that admin so I'm stumped. With the technosoft2000 version I get a log that there is no write access at /books. If I change things back in DSM will it revert to 0000?Īs a side issue, now that DSM offers the option, should containers “Use the same network as Docker Host?”Įdit: I tried again using an admin account. After the change DSM sees this as custom permissions. Suggestions? Does it matter if I leave /books as chmod 0777? It was set to 0000. I either need to change some setting or using a different PUID/PGID. I think this can’t work as I’ve set it up. Lastly, I tried taking ownership of /books with the calibre user.
Is that a better practice than using an admin user or docker user? I gave that user read/write permissions to both /apps and /books. I tried making a new user just for calibre-web. This is the same as before except for the config file. I have the database file in /volume1/books/calibre. I have the config file in /volume1/apps/configs/calibre-web. I can’t get either to work despite this working when I set it up in the past. I tried both the linuxserver and technosoft2000 versions. I scrapped a previous installation and started again.
